  • Anti Rabies Campaign
    The Department of Public Health of the City of Pájara reports that shortly begins the rabies vaccination campaign and placement of chips. Animals should be provided with belt, chain and muzzle. The locations, dates and times are as follows: in Pájara on 21 May in the dump of struggle, from 09.00 to 14.30 and from 16.00 to 20.30 hours in toto, on 22 May at the Well of the Spider, from 09.00 to 14.30 and from 16.00 to 20.30, in El Cardon, May 23, at La Casa de la Cultura, from 09.00 to 10.30 hours in the Wall-The Beautiful, May 23, in the pound, from 11.00 to 14.00, in La Lajita, 23 May at the Town Hall Offices, from 16.00 to 20.30 hours in Costa Calma, on 24 May at the Deputy Mayor's Office, from 09.00 to 14.30 and 16.00 20.30 and in Morro Jable, 28 May at the Bus Station, from 9.00 to 14.30 and from 16.00 to 20.30.
  • Pajara
    After 34 years, Pájara and the rest of the island continue to demand the closure of the range. In 1978, the expropriation of land was opposed. Thirty-four years after this expropriation the platform “Pájara Save the Coast” does not give up and continues to call for the closure of the field despite the new safety zone, from the covered shooting range, south to the village and the soccer field of the Wall, the road FV617 and its neighbouring locations. This includes the entire coastal area near the shooting range.
  • Lights Out.
    La Oliva council have announced that street lighting in the North of the island is to be reduced. This will cut the bills by 40%. Corralejo and El Cotillo will not be affect ted but all other villages will be switched off at 3am.
  • Bank Ratings.
    The rating agency announced on Thursday a reduction of one to three notches the rating given to 16 major Spanish banks, including Santander and BBVA Group. The reduction is justified by adverse conditions under which banks operate, the lower creditworthiness of the country, the rapid deterioration in asset quality and the restrictions on access to capital markets . Following the review announced on Thursday night, the banks Santander and BBVA pass a solvency Aa3 to A3, three steps below. The same thing happens to Caixabank. Popular and Banesto .
  • Fuerte Cheese.
    The Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation of Fuerteventura is introducing a campaign to promote the cheese of Fuerteventura in Tenerife North airport. The action is part of the regionalization program of the Canarian SME. With images of different varieties of Majorero cheese drawing the map of Fuerteventura and a seal with the motto Cheese Majorero: internationally recognized as the best cheese in the world. They have labelled the doors of the terminal of the airport grounds to welcome the passengers and promote one of the most attractive and Genuine Maxorata in Tenerife.
  • Orange Heat alert. 38 degrees
    The Meteorological Agency decreed to notice Monday orange (significant risk) for high temperatures in the eastern province and Tenerife. In La Palma and La Gomera notice is yellow. The maximum temperature in Gran Canaria will be 38 degrees and affects virtually the entire island except for the northern parts. Lanzarote and Fuerteventura will also reach 38 degrees, according to the AEMET. The islands are on alert. Two tourists have died in the canaries whilst hiking in the extreme heat.
  • Air Berlin
    Air Berlin is threatening to remove flights to the island as the government threatens to remove subsidies. The increase in international destinations was linked to the airport of Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Arrecife for the summer season 2012 Fuerteventura is connected to 11 destinations in Germany, and to cities in Austria Vienna and Zurich in Switzerland. This would be very bad for the islands economy.
  • Camping dates
    The Department of Environment of the City of La Oliva reports that next Monday, March 14, registration is available for summer camping in the municipality of La Oliva. The period in which you can camp will run from May 25 until 30 September inclusive. Permitted camping areas are: Beatriz Caleta, Marirías or Maria Diaz, Punta Blanca and La Caleta. All information is available on the website of the City of North (www.laoliva.es), in the section of the Department of Environment. The deposit is 60 euros. It will be mandatory to havea chemical toilet on site.
  • Airport hours extension refused.
    The schedule for Fuerteventura Airport will remain the same as always: from 7.30 to 23.00. Aena has announced that it has refused the extended hours for several reasons, including because the airlines have not requested or made a template expansion suggestion. The airport site is operational from 7.30 am to 23.00 pm with the possibility of an extra hour of service extension at request of the airlines. This is how it operates at present and will remain so.
  • Canary day. 30th May
    May 30th. Is Canary day a public holiday. Many fiestas and entertainers throughout the island. Traditional costumes will be worn and local food and drink on offer throughout the day.
