Considering its administrative importance - this is where the major 
tourist centres on Jandía are administered - Pájara has a surprisingly rural and tranquil air. At the edge of town there are picturesque, clay-coloured farmhouses long exposed to the ravages of time, and in the centre, myriads of birds twitter in the tall, shady trees and bushes. There are lawns, and even a freshwater swimming-pool with eight 25 m lanes.

opposite the Bar Amany, there is an unusual dance floor decorated with brightly coloured intarsia depicting animals.The church of Nuestra Señora de Regla, built in 1687, is one of the most beautiful on the island. The motifs decorating its stone doorway have an Aztec air about them. Various styles overlap I its interior: the transition from renaissance to baroque (in the design of the columns and the gable), baroque (altars) and gothic (pointed arches before the main and side altars, doorway to the vault by the bell-tower). The sculpture of the patron saint, Nuestra Señora de Regla, comes in all probability from Mexico, and was presumably donated by an emigrant who returned, having amassed a fortune. 
The church can be viewed in the morning from 11.00 to 13.00 hrs and in the afternoon from 17.00 to 19.00 hrs. and if it is too dark - the little coin-operated meter in the vestibule will switch on the bright lighting if you insert a “donation”. On the left next to the church is the Centro Cultural of Pájara, with a bar and a restaurant that is open all day. The impressive modern building opposite is home to the district administration and an outpatients clinic. In marked contrast to the modern buildings, a camel-driven bucket wheel for drawing water (NORIA) from the last century adorns the courtyard in front.
